Duo suspended for installing Crypto mining software on supermarket computers

This is a fun one: Hot for Security I reported that an unknown Italian couple – let’s call them Bonnie and Clyde – were recently arrested for installing crypto-mining software on display models of new gaming laptops at several retailers.

The scheme seemed to be fairly straightforward. Bonnie reportedly distracted the staff “by asking for help booting a laptop she had bought from the store,” so Clyde would be free to use the USB drive to compromise the target systems.
