In the Wings for Life World Run, participants run for those who can’t: people with spinal cord injuries. And where you run is up to you. There are flagship runs in global cities or you can run wherever you are with the Wings for Life World Run app.
Either way, 100% of each membership fee goes directly to Wings for Life, a non-profit foundation that funds world-class scientific research and clinical trials to find a cure for spinal cord injury.
If you are thinking of participating with the App, here’s what you need to know:
2. When does the race start?
All participants around the world will start at exactly 11:00 UTC.
3. How does the race work on the App?
30 minutes after the start, the Virtual Catcher Car will start chasing you via the app, gradually increasing your speed as the race progresses. If you can stay in front of the car, you will stay in the race. Then, when the Catcher Car overtakes you, your race is over. You will be guided by an exciting audio experience that you can listen to through the phone speaker or through headphones. However, it is recommended that you only wear a headset so that you are aware of your surroundings.
4. Where can I find my result?
I don’t participate personally, but I would like to make a donation to a friend. What can I do?
Like tuition fees, 100 percent of all donations go directly to Wings for Life for vital spinal cord injury research. To motivate a participating friend with your donation, simply enter the participant’s name in the search field on wingforlifeworldrun.com and then click the link that appears to view their profile page. From there you can commit to donating the amount you choose for their fundraising campaign.
