Standard AI, the global leader in retail computer vision, has announced that it has completed both the acquisition of UK-based computer vision company, ThirdEye Labs; Samir Qureshi, who joined from Tesla and Lyft, added as the first vice president of machine learning. Now with the largest and most experienced computer vision team in the field of retail technology, Standard AI will expand the capabilities of the standard AI platform in new and exciting ways to drive the future of autonomous retail forward.

Standard AI has seen a significant increase in demand for its computer vision system, driven by the need for retailers to find ways to deliver a transformative customer experience, maximize business capacity, and improve in-store efficiency and economy. The company recently announced that it has partnered with Alimentation Couche-Tard to open the first Circle K standalone chain of stores in Arizona.

AI Standard Completes ThirdEye Labs Acquisition
ThirdEye Labs is an award-winning London-based technology company founded in 2016 by Raz Ghafoor and Peter Rennert with the goal of using computer vision to help retailers combat lines and retail loss and improve operations. The company’s innovative machine learning algorithms focus on specific human movements and are similar to those used by autonomous vehicles to identify and predict pedestrian behavior. The terms of the lease earned were not disclosed.

Sameer Qureshi joins Standard to help drive the future of independent retail
Sameer Qureshi has also joined Standard AI as the first Vice President of Machine Learning. Qureshi joined from Woven Planet and Lyft, where he served as Product Manager for Lyft’s Autonomous Driving Division, Level 5. Prior to Lyft, Qureshi led Tesla’s autopilot programs where he was responsible for the Autopilot software suite across all Tesla vehicles and platforms.
In Standard AI, Qureshi will lead the artificial intelligence and machine learning teams, and will work closely with the standard engineering teams and product teams to improve the standard self-driving platform and bring new products to market.
